Dust to Dust or Ashes to Ashes
Recently I stumbled across the book Dust to Dust or Ashes to Ashes by Christian professor Dr. Alvin. J. Schmidt. The book is a Biblical and Christian examination of cremation. I read it within six days because I could not put the book down. I can hardly believe how ignorant I have been on such an important subject. Dr. A. J. Schmidt looks at; Cremation: Its Pagan Origins, Cremation: Past and Present, The Ancient Israelite View of Cremation, Biblical Arguments against Cremation, The Acquiescence of Clergy and Churches.
Dr. Schmidt's book is not morbid or dull but fascinating and challenging. I think it would be difficult to read this book along with biblical evidence and conclude that cremation is an option. Having read and reflected on the biblical perspective about cremation and burial, I have told my wife I am to be buried and not cremated. My Lord Jesus was buried and I shall follow his example. I recommend the book and subject. (The book is available from the Soteria office at £6 including p&p).

Christian Vision for Men (CVM) are having their annual men's conference at the fantastic Warwick Conference Centre. With excellent speakers, Anthony Delaney and Carl Beech and worship led by Graham Kendrick. I am attending myself with some men from my church.
